well, for one, it would bring more people and attention to 43things and its family of site, so if just for that it would make money, also, like alot of facebook apps, it can have google ads imbedded.
I you use it right away if someone created a facebook app to access any of robotcoop’s sites.

I’d love to hear more from people who want this facebook app to describe what they want it to do. If the idea is to reproduce 43 Things inside Facebook, I don’t really get it.
Seems like the right sort of app would take advantage of how Facebook works, and marry it to something 43 Things is particularly good at doing. I have some ideas for All Consuming and 43 Places Facebook apps, but I’m a bit blank on 43 Things.

As you have seen, what I have done so far is very small = just display a list of goals/places.
I have at a minimum the following ideas so far (for 43things, but with the right adjustments they can be used also for the otehr sites):
1)
IDEA: find people “doing a given thing” (possibly the same goal you set for yourself). If I know my 43people “ID/account” I can grab my list of things, I can select a certain “thing/goal”, you can probably search for other 43’ers with the same goal….
CHALLENGE: at which point, since I AM NOT STORING ANY INFORMATION about my users, how do I find back who those 43IDs are, brought back in the facebook world ? I would need to store information to do this, and have a database table with FB-to-43 “ID’s”. So I can’t do that at the moment.
2)
IDEA: when visiting other people’s profile you could check right away which goals you have in common, which things they have done that you want to do, etc.
CHALLENGE: Facebook is changing the way their “FBML” works, so showing different things for different users in profiles is not going to be possible anymore…
3)
IDEA: marking goals as “DONE” from your list from within Facebook.
CHALLENGE: this would require user authentication
4)
IDEA: find your friends that are on both networks
CHALLENGE: same as number “2”...

I would just like a way to display my goals on my Facebook profile. When I update 43 Things, it updates on Facebook. That’s all.

If anybody is interested, in the meantime, I have done a couple of simple facebook apps for bringing 43things and 43places inside Facebook:

they basically display your goals and places from 43T/P inside of your profile in facebook.
I know it is not yet a lot, a proper app would do much more…. but it is a starter… it could at least achieve the point Zon Wakest is pointing out (“it would bring more people and attention to 43things and its family of site”)...
BTW, there is a similar topic of discussion at http://www.shoulddothis.com/entries/view/326 – just because I FOUND that before this… I don’t think facebook would really care of making this application, it is probably the Robots that should.
I tried to give my little contribution in the mean while, just because I felt there was a need for this “link” between the two social graphs…
